Restore or Repair Your Boiler: Make a Cost-Effective Choice

You have a major decision to make. Your boiler is in need of some big repairs, and it’s time to call in professionals. Should you have them make repairs to your boiler, or is it a better idea to replace the whole boiler tank at once?

Of course, the answer is going to vary on a case-by-case basis. But we’re offering up some information on when you might be better off with a replacement, and when repairs could hold strong. To learn more, please do not hesitate to contact our team!

Safety First

If your boiler is not operating safely, or if there are signs that the boiler tank is starting to corrode through, it’s probably time for a replacement. You do not want to risk major damage to your property due to a leak. And problems with ventilation, safety switches, and pressure in the tank could all be safety risks. If technicians recommend a replacement for these reasons, it’s typically best to take this advice.

What Does Your Technician Say?

Aside from major leaks and signs of rust and corrosion, it’s tough to tell on your own whether your boiler really needs a replacement. You MUST call a technician if you are having problems with your boiler, as you should have peace of mind about whether it is a gas or carbon monoxide leak risk. Besides, the longer you let boiler problems go on, the worse they get.

If your boiler is more than about 15-20 years old AND needs major repairs to go on, a replacement may be the better choice. If your technician tells you a repair will cost thousands of dollars, it may make more sense to get a new boiler which will last longer, since the old one will only need replacement in a short time anyway.

Don’t be afraid to ask for a second opinion. If your technicians recommend a replacement system for a newer system, or if the problem doesn’t seem to be that severe, you can call us or another company in your area.
